you have to remove the ram ducts from the airbox and at the ram opening. The screen and all will come off once those are removed.Just make sure when reinstalling that you get the rubber seal at the nose/ram opening back around the triangular mating surface.I don't think you'll have to remove the front cowl to do this...not that I recall anyway.

WAit a minute-- I am pretty sure, if all you want to do is get into the main inlet (the big triagle hole), all you need to do is remove the top fairing and pull the rubber rim off the inlet. The screen can be pulled out after it. I know this must be pretty simple because I remember cleaning out my ram air ducts from the front a year or two ago.
You could remove the tubes on the side too if necessary. Never did that but looks like just a few clamps and a couple allen screws by the airbox. I don't think you want to go that far back in there unless you might have some fancy idea for wire routing.
I have pics and some copy to show how to remove the top fairing. It' not complicated. Take off windscreen, 6 electrical connectors for headlights , 1 connector for TOS, two scews to wire retainer clamps and to bolts up on top. The 2 bolts are the only thing that hold it on, really. Have not completed the how too yet but I could post the info for you in the TEST section.
